Aqua Star Supplier Code of Conduct
Aqua Star is a responsible company. We are committed to ensuring high ethical standards and social accountability throughout our supply chain. We have developed the following Code of Conduct that sets forth our minimum expectations for all Aqua Star suppliers. Companies applying this code are expected to comply with all national and other applicable law and, where the provisions of law and this Code of Conduct address the same subject, to apply that provision which affords the greater protection. Suppliers are encouraged to exceed these standards.
Employment is Freely Chosen
Suppliers shall not use forced, bonded or involuntary labor. Workers are not required to lodge deposits or identity papers with employer, and are free to leave their employer after reasonable notice.
There shall be no recruitment or use of child labor.
Freedom of Association
Suppliers shall respect the rights of all workers to form and join trade unions and to bargain collectively. Where the right to freedom of association is restricted under law, suppliers shall facilitate and not hinder development of parallel means of independent and free association and bargaining.
There shall be no discrimination in hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, termination or retirement based on race, caste, national origin, religion, age, disability, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, union membership or political affiliation.
Health and Safety
Suppliers shall ensure a safe and healthy working environment, including for any company-provided accommodations and dining facilities. Adequate steps shall be taken to minimize risks and prevent accidents and injuries. Suppliers shall provide regular and adequate health and safety training for all workers.
Fair Working Conditions
Wages and benefits shall at a minimum meet national legal standards or industry benchmark standards, whichever is higher. Working hours must comply with national laws and collective agreements. All workers shall be provided with written and understandable information about the terms of their employment and compensation before entering employment, and each time they are paid. Deductions of compensation for disciplinary measures shall not be permitted, nor any other deductions not provided for by law without the express permission of the worker. Physical abuse or discipline, the threat of physical abuse, sexual harassment and verbal abuse or other forms of intimidation shall be prohibited.
Suppliers shall comply with all applicable environmental regulations, as well as all additional requirements specific to the products or services being provided to Aqua Star. Suppliers shall have systems in place to ensure the safe handling, movement, storage, recycling, reuse or management of waste, air emissions and wastewater discharges.
All suppliers shall be subject to third-party audits to ensure compliance with Aqua Star and our customer standards. Where possible we will accept existing internationally-recognized audit programs rather than requiring a separate program.
Legal and Customer Requirements
Suppliers shall identify and comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards and relevant customer requirements. Suppliers must maintain documentation and allocate resources necessary to demonstrate compliance with this Code of Conduct and must provide Aqua Star with access to that documentation upon its request. Supplier’s non-compliance with this Code and applicable laws may result in the cancellation, suspension or termination of business relations with Aqua Star.
